Thirty hours free childcare for 3 and 4 year olds

At present, the Local Authority fund the school for 15 hours of a pupil place and the Governing Body have agreed for the school to fund the difference to provide all our nursery pupils with a full time place for this academic year.

The Governing Body will review this situation on an annual basis as school budgets may decrease in the future due to the ‘National Funding Formula’. This may mean in the future that schools may no longer be able to fund full time places and perhaps some parents will be asked to pay for the additional hours or full time places may only be available under certain circumstances such as free school meal entitlement.

From 1st September 2017, HM Government have introduced ’30 hours free childcare’ for 3 and 4 year olds of working parents. As part of the Schools Nursery Policy, all parents / carers who are eligible* must register with www.childcarechoices.gov.uk at the start of the school year and then at the beginning of each term to renew.  Once registered, an 11 digit eligibility code will be issued for you to provide to school. This ensures the school receives full funding to continue the provision of full time places.

*Am I eligible?

You, and any partner, must each expect to earn (on average) at least £131 per week (equal to 16 hours at the National Minimum or Living Wage).

If you, or your partner, are on maternity, paternity or adoption leave, or you're unable to work because you are disabled or have caring responsibilities, you could still be eligible.

You can't get 30 hours free childcare if either you, or your partner, each individually expect to earn £100,000 or more.

If parents/carers require further help please contact our School Business Manager, Mrs Bailey on 0161 740 3529 (option 3) or email her on bailey.s@charlestown.manchester.sch.uk.
